What is a Whole-Home Organization Project— And Is It Right for You?

Most people come to us looking to solve one specific problem. The pantry is a disaster. The playroom has taken over. The primary closet hasn't worked since they moved in.

But once we start talking, something interesting happens. They realize the pantry isn't the only problem. Neither is the playroom. The closets, the kids' rooms, the garage, the drop zone by the door— it's all connected. And the idea of tackling it all at once starts to feel less overwhelming and more like exactly what they need.

That's usually when the conversation shifts to a whole-home organization project.

Here's what that actually means and how to know if it's the right move for your family.

What a whole-home organization project actually is

A whole-home project means we organize every space in your home: not just the ones that are obviously problematic, but all of them, as part of one cohesive project.

This might include your kitchen and pantry, primary closet, kids' rooms and closets, playroom, bathrooms, laundry room, mudroom or drop zone, home office, garage, attic, or basement. The exact scope depends on your home and your needs. We work through that together during your consultation.

The key difference between a whole-home project and tackling spaces one at a time is that everything gets designed to work together. The systems in the mudroom connect to the systems in the kids' rooms. The way the kitchen is organized supports how your family actually cooks and eats. Nothing exists in isolation.

Why families choose to do it all at once

There are a few reasons whole-home projects resonate so strongly with the families we work with.

First, we can see how your spaces live and work together. When we’re organizing your entire home, we’re able to spot things that get missed when working one room at a time— like the art supplies stored in three different places, or the tools scattered between the garage, the kitchen junk drawer, and a closet.

We can create one intentional home for every single item and group like things together that may have been spread throughout the house for years without anyone realizing it. That level of cohesion just isn’t possible when you’re only looking at one space at a time.

Second, the transformation is complete. There's a huge difference between having one organized closet in a home that otherwise feels chaotic, and walking through every room knowing exactly where things are and how they work. The latter is the version that actually changes how your days feel.

Third, the systems reinforce each other. When we design your whole home at once, we can make sure everything is consistent (labels, containers, categories) so your family only has to learn one way of doing things.

What the process looks like

A whole-home project with Sort & Simplify follows the same process as our individual space projects, just scaled up.

It starts with a thorough in-home consultation where we measure every space and really get to know how your family lives. From there, we put together a detailed proposal and a full product plan (every bin, basket, label, and shelf) which you review and approve before we purchase anything.

On project days, we arrive with everything we need and get to work. Depending on the size of your home, a whole-home project typically spans multiple days to a couple of weeks. We sort, declutter, build systems, and label everything, and we invite you into the decisions that matter, like what stays and what goes, while we handle the rest.

By the time we're done, every space in your home has an intentional system designed for the way your family actually lives.

What it costs

We won't sugarcoat it— a whole-home project is a significant investment. For most homes we work in, you can expect:

  • Organizing time: $10,000–$12,000

  • Organizing products: $8,000–$12,000

We know that's real money. The way our clients talk about it afterward is that it's one of the best investments they've made in their home. Not because it looks beautiful (though it does), but because of how much easier their daily life becomes.

When your home runs on autopilot, you get hours back every week and a level of mental clarity that's hard to put a price on.

Not ready for a whole-home project right now? That's completely okay. We work on individual spaces too, and many of our clients start with one or two rooms and come back when they're ready for more.

Signs a whole-home project might be right for you

You might be a good fit for a whole-home project if:

  • You can't point to a single space in your home that feels truly organized.

  • You've tried organizing on your own and it never seems to stick.

  • You're moving into a new home and want to set everything up right from the start.

  • Your family is in a season of change — new baby, kids getting older, a recent move — and your systems need to catch up.

  • You want a done-for-you experience and you're ready to hand it off to someone who will handle every detail.

What our clients say

Here's how one Nashville client described her experience after a whole-home project with Sort & Simplify:

"The most amazing organization system I’ve ever seen. And Lauren is just absolutely the kindest most incredible person ever. 5 stars aren’t enough. She’s an absolute game changer!!! I recommend her with the highest compliments. I’ll use her forever. She’s changed our home in the best way ever."

That's what we're going for every single time— not just a beautiful space, but one that actually works for the people living in it.
